What is our software and what is available?

We offer all stages of tuning, the most popular and widely requested from us is a Stage 1 Remap, this is the most you will achieve from your car with stock/ original manufacturer components still in place. Our Stage 1 Remaps are designed to be safe and work within all manufacture tolerances. At MAX TUNE we use the very latest equipment.

Our software is developed on our Hitech dynamometer to ensure accuracy in terms of both power delivery and also to ensure that fuelling, boost pressures and exhaust gas temperatures (where applicable) are all within tolerance. We pride ourselves on our ability to achieve maximum power whilst maintaining optimum reliability.

What are the main differences between Truetune and TruetuneTouch?

The main difference is the that TruetuneTouch has a touch screen and the Truetune does not. The Truetune touch can read and clear fault codes stored in the ECU the Truetune cannot. The TruetuneTouch is a faster device and much more ergonomically designed, small and lighter etc etc. The software we provide for any car using either the Truetune or TruetuneTouch is IDENTICAL you will not get a better remap using one over the other, the software provided by both will always be the same, the way the two devices read an engines ecu may differ slightly but the end result 'the tuning of the car' will be the same.

What should I do if I am taking my vehicle to a manufacturer dealership or other similar third party with my vehicle?

We strongly recommend returning the vehicle to stock (standard) using your Truetune device before visiting a vehicle manufacturer dealership or similar third party. We also recommend explicitly asking them NOT to perform any software updates to the vehicle’s ECU (Engine Control Unit) without discussing it with you first.

 Please note that if a dealership (or other third party) applies an update to the ECU they will change your stock ECU software, meaning that you will require a new remap for your vehicle. You can avoid this scenario (and additional cost) by asking them NOT to apply new software to the ECU. 

Please note that it is NOT necessary to apply software updates to the ECU during the course of a standard vehicle service, but often software updates are applied anyway.

If you have NOT returned the vehicle to stock first, and a vehicle manufacturer dealership (or other third party) applies an update to the ECU, you will also be unable to use your Truetune device again until it is unlocked. An unlocking fee must be paid before a Truetune device can be unlocked. You can avoid this scenario by returning your vehicle to stock (standard) first with your Truetune device before visiting a vehicle manufacturer dealership or similar third party.

Is the truetune computer software compatible with Apple MAC iOS

The quick answer is no, not directly it is designed for windows based operating systems, however you can run a virtual windows machine on your mac and then the truetune software will work for you.

Can I tune more than one car at a time??

The simple and straight forward answer is no, you can move the truetune to another car as long as the original car that the truetune has been use on is returned to stock using the the truetune, you can then reset the device and read the new car, however every new tuning file weather it be for the old vehicle or the new vehicle is requires you to purchase the add on you require. If you have not reverted the original car back to stock there is a £240 inc vat fee “”non reset truetune add on” to release the truetune to be used on another car.

What should I do if I want to use my existing Truetune device on another vehicle?

It is very important that you return the vehicle to stock (standard) first. You will NOT be charged a reset fee if the original vehicle that you remapped with the Truetune device is returned to stock first (using the same Truetune device). You will only need to pay for a new remap / Add-On for the new vehicle.

 If you do NOT return the original vehicle to stock first (with the Truetune), then the device will need unlocking before it can be used with another vehicle. An unlocking fee must be paid before a Truetune device can be unlocked.

 Please telephone MAX TUNE on 0333 444 0136 (from within the UK), or 00 44 333 444 0136 (from outside the UK) to request that the vehicle be reconfigured to work with a new / replacement vehicle, alternatively you can contact us via your Online Truetune Portal.

Please note that the new vehicle must be compatible with the Truetune device.  

Do I need to buy a new truetune every time I change my car??

How do I send and receive my truetune files?

Once you have purchased a truetune you will be granted access your very own truetune private portal, from there you will be able to:

  • upload and down load files for you truetune
  • See all files you have sent and received
  • see how many credits you have remaining and you can purchase more.

    what Add-ons are available?

    You can also have add-ons when you purchase a truetune. The first tuning file for your truetune is included (10 MAX TUNE credits).

    If you would like something extra with your tune you can choose from any of add-ons from the list below and add them to your purchase now or at a later date all add-ons cost 10 MAX TUNE credits equal to £120 inc VAT.

    In addition to this they can be purchased separately and added to your truetune at a later date. For example if you would like a Pop and Bang/Crackle over run map on your existing Stage 1 Remap with truetune, we can apply this so you have two files on your truetune. One file is simply the Stage 1 and the second file is the Stage 1 with Pop and bang. You can freely choose which file to have on your car at any time you want and wherever you want, as they will be stored on the #truetune itself. Just plug truetune in to the OBD port and choose which file you would like to write in to the car.

    • DPF Delete (DPF filter must be removed from the canister)
    • Ad-blue Delete (where possible)
